Rock of Ages tells the story of “small town girl Sherrie ( Julianne Hough) and city boy Drew ( Diego Boneta), who meet on the Sunset Strip while pursuing their Hollywood dreams. Furthermore, judging by the footage in the trailer, it looks like Cruise can actually belt out some notes, who knew? Stilted dialogue and lame comedy aside, I think the film can offer up just enough fun to make it worth the price of admission.

From what we can see here, it looks like Shankman has put together a very fun ’80s atmosphere and some of the film’s big personalities look like they’re going to be very entertaining, especially Cruise’s Stacee Jaxx. The second trailer has been released today and though it doesn’t pose the same excitement as seeing the first trailer for the first time did, it still makes the film look like a fun romp.
